Project Description
Vikki, BC, Canada
“I probably half-heartedly tried to quit. Cold turkey a couple of times. I tried some nicotine gum years ago. I tried the patch, and I found myself reaching for a cigarette, even with the patch on. It wasn’t very effective. The longest period of time I went without smoking was a little less than 24 hours. I’ve never actually gone a full day without smoking.”
Improvements with: Cough, Breathing / Lung Issues, Difficulty Walking/ Flexibility, Bloating/ Indigestion, Muscle and Joint Issues, Quit Smoking, Sleep Apnea, Snoring, Stomach Pain.
Before | After |
---|---|
Uncontrollable Cough. Uncontrollable coughing in the worst times in a meeting, or a phone call, or in a movie. Ande even in a yoga or meditation ss, I would just start hacking. | I’m not coughing at all anymore. Just the regular normal coughs, not the smoker’s cough. I noticed the difference within the second or third day.. |
Hyperthyroid. I lost a lot of weight. | The team worked hard to help me keep the weight, and I even gained ½ lb. |
Fear of cravings. I thought it would be an impossible endeavor. The times I've tried to quit before, I couldn't even get through the day without having extreme stress and anxiety. I was really nervous. I was anxious. My heart was beating. was expecting some pretty strong withdrawals. | It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The cravings I did have were pretty fleeting. There were so many things that helped me, for instance, the salt inhaler helped me with the hand to mouth thing.I suppose it's the supplements and the foods and whatever it was, the cravings just weren't as severe as they had been the other times I tried to quit. Or the panic that you have when you've run out of cigarettes and there's nowhere to get cigarettes. I didn't really have that. There were moments that they were very short and as each day went by, it got better and better. On my 6th or 7th day I wasn’t even craving at all. |
When I used to quit, even for a few hours, I would start coughing a lot. | I was really surprised how little coughing I did here. Probably the third and fourth dasy, I saw some things coming up, which was good. Nothing was too uncontrollable. |
Snoring. I have an app that records me. I had 10-12 instances of snoring per night. | This decreased to two instances per night. |
Coughing at night. 8-10 instances a night | This changed to 1 instance per night. |
Sleep Apnea and Overall Sleep. One time it went up to 30 seconds, which was a little scary. | The sleep apnea score has gone down to practically zero. I am sleeping way, way better. |
Breathing. Smoking has impacted my life in so many ways, especially breathing, in the past few years. | I am breathing better. |
Digestive Issues. I never had the best digestive system. | I’ve had absolutely no bloating at all. I’ve had no stomach aches. I feel lighter. I feel cleaner. |
Loss of ability to sing. Smoking destroyed my voice. It got deeper and scratchier. | It is still deep and scratchy, but I feel it’s a little bit better than it was. I sing here a little bit, and it’s something that I’m just going to get better and better. |
Chronic pain in left shoulder blade and scapula, due to carrying a tray with glasses in a bar, when I was younger. Even when I’m sitting for awhile, it’ll start to ache. If I’m lying down, it’ll start to ache. And I’ve gone to chiropractors and physio. | The workers here have tried certain devices on this thing, and it’s gone. It’s completely gone. It hasn’t bothered me the last couple of days. If this is gone forever, this alone would have been worth to come here, because it was debilitating. |
Experience Highlights:
- The place is absolutely stunningly beautiful. I can’t even describe it. I saw wildlife within 10 minutes of being on the island. I saw deer. I’ve seen cranes. I’ve seen more deer. I’ve seen some really great trees that are hundreds-years old.
- The food. I was really blown away by how tasty the food is. It’s so healthy. The chef here is a miracle worker.
- Cooking demonstrations – I learned some tips and tricks to make my food taste good. So, my family will eat the healthy food, too.
