Who Am I?
Mel was raised in a small coastal town, located alongside the Great Barrier Reef, in sunny North Queensland, Australia. Growing up spending most of her childhood outdoors, she grew a love for the peacefulness, serenity and healing properties that nature brings. Picking fruit off backyard trees and helping her mum plant vegetables to help feed her family of 6 is a huge part of Mel’s love for food and holistic background.
Mel would help her Grandma and Mum cook and bake whenever she could and will always treasure special family recipes passed on to her.
Throughout Mel’s journey, she always knew she wanted to help make the world a better place in any way possible. Her career, yet still young, has taken her to different restaurants around the world, including Melbourne, Australia and Vancouver, Canada, where she worked in high-end restaurants, serving and bartending. Mel, her partner and two kitties, decided to make the move from Vancouver to the wonderful Comox Valley in 2022 and have never looked back.
In 2020, Mel became 100% vegan, for reasons related to her own health journey, as well as continuing the battle for improvements on animal agriculture and environmental changes. In 2023 Mel graduated from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, where she also gained a year of cooking experience in the Holistic Culinary component of her course. She is now a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Throughout her career, Mel has gained different certifications related to her interests, such as Business, Travel and Tourism and a Pharmaceutical Compounding Certification.
After years of trying different career routes, Mel has always return to her original love of cooking and working with food. Battling with her own health concerns, specifically within her digestive and intestinal systems, she quickly realised that a healthy gut and microbiome is the key to managing many health concerns most people will face today. Using real, nutritious food to heal the body, along with nature, inner peace and self-love can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life.
Mel’s gained knowledge of nutrition, health products and the healing properties nature can bring, leads her to her current point in life, where she is helping people and the planet simultaneously.
Mel loves to go camping with her partner and cats, doing yoga daily, growing herbs to cook with and being by the water. She is currently working at her dream to become a vegan chef and passing on the knowledge and benefits of the healing whole food and nutrients. Mel is happiest when she is nourished with good cleansing food and her mind, body and spirit are aligned.
