Who Am I?
Ashley is a passionate enthusiast of cooking healthy and alternative foods with years of holistic nutrition/diet self-study and scratch home-cooking experience and has a compassionate approach to life.
Ashley grew up as a young child in the countryside in Ontario and later in a town north of Toronto. As a young child, she was always in the kitchen learning and helping her mother cook nutritious and delicious recipes. It was always an immense joy to cook and it was from here where her passion for food and cooking grew. Her mother’s background of having Chinese heritage mixed with being born in India led to the passing on of a unique blend of traditional dishes gathered from generations before. Her grandmother was also always in the kitchen until an old age cooking traditional recipes and inspired her. Sharing wholesome food has always brought her family together.
After being led astray and indulging in more junk and processed foods in her teen years, Ashley began having health issues. Having parents that were always interested in natural health, one day a lightbulb went off and she came to consider the fact that the natural way may be the way to go. Eventually, she came to realize the strong connection between diet and health. After discovering the merits of alternative diets, like vegetarian and raw vegan, she dove headfirst into self-study about nutrition in these realms and how to prepare foods in alternative healthy ways.
All of her ailments disappeared after adopting a healthy diet and lifestyle, which affirmed this new path. She was very excited to share everything she learned with others who were suffering in her life to help. At the same time discovering more about herbal medicine and realizing her strong connection to nature sparked her interest in that field.
Ashley has years of home-cooking experience preparing a variety of foods and diets from scratch as well as has worked in a health food kitchen. Working on organic farms and doing an internship gave her firsthand experience with where healthy food starts from growing vibrant, delicious and healthy veggies and fruits.
Ashley loves being immersed in nature and enjoys nature walks/hikes, foraging and camping. She loves trying new things in the kitchen including fermenting, sourdough baking, tofu-making and vegan cooking. She also enjoys crocheting, reading, vintage clothing, yoga and doing art with her partner. She and her partner love living on and exploring beautiful Vancouver Island.
