Who Am I?

Laurie teaches Fresh Start yoga classes and is a multidisciplinary bodyworker with incredibly strong hands who specializes in Thai Yoga and Deep Tissue massage. She has extensively travelled throughout Asia when getting her advanced training in Thai.

Being raised on a holistic alternative dairy farm in the Fraser Valley established Laurie’s physical strength, understanding of work ethic, plant medicine and organic food supply. During those formative years, she found that a body reflexologist was able to balance her body and mind far more effectively than the prescriptions by her GP.

This experience sparked the beginning of Laurie’s lifetime study and practice of complementary techniques in holistic health. Since 2004, she was providing mobile healing through 5 Element Acupressure, Chair Massage and Reiki offered in corporate offices and private homes in Victoria, BC.

In addition to the extensive experience with customized care in the wellness field, Laurie has worked a lot behind the scenes in hospitality events. After more than a decade of self-employment with her primary focus being raising her son on her own, Laurie attended a life-changing remote wellness retreat abroad that opened her eyes to the possibilities available to her as her son gained independence. Living in a land of high-end wilderness destinations and seeking her own reconnection with nature, she joined a team of hard-working, multi-disciplinary individuals in seasonal work at a guest lodge in Northern BC. Among the many roles Laurie filled there, she provided bodywork for both patrons and staff and led daily yoga classes for international Heli-Ski guests over several seasons.

This shift in her practice and parenting life has moved Laurie to study more healing modalities, especially yoga. Within this deep dive, she has become passionate about meditation and breathwork. Pursuing more body-mind knowledge for herself and her skill offerings, Laurie has returned from an extended trip through SE Asia where I was certified in over 350 hours of Thai Massage, Thai massage Facial, Herbal Stem Massage, Tok Sen and meditation.

Bodywork and healing are Laurie’s lifelong passion. She integrates multiple techniques into her bodywork and is a seeker of knowledge to provide informed and intuitive care from a broad base of studies. She is deeply committed to safe and skillful work with those showing up to develop the benefits of mind-body connection.

When not immersed in exploring her endless curiosities, Laurie can be found sharing food, laughter and adventures with her friends, on her yoga mat, or riding her motorcycle on the back roads of Vancouver Island, shifting gears from the mundane into the divine.
