Who Am I?
Sheri grew up in a small community in Manitoba on a 160 acre farm before making the West Coast her home. Summers spent at Nan’s and in her garden were a joy ~ all those fresh vegetables & fruits grown for canning, pickling & making into jam or preserves. Sheri realized at a very young age that this was her calling. Her cooking career has taken her to a remote fishing lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest, heli-ski lodges, hotels, restaurants, bakeries, private catering, and even a film set. She met her husband along the way (also a Chef) and they have worked together, traveled, and adventured before settling down on their small farm on the island.
Sheri graduated from the Camosun College Professional Cooking Program & began cooking professionally over 20 years ago. She is a graduate of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist in 2015. She has also explored massage & bodywork after completing the 250-hour Holistic Massage program through The Art of Conscious Touch.
After years in the kitchen, she began to encounter many guests with allergies or food sensitivities and became aware of the need to deepen her knowledge of food and its effects on our bodies. Sheri herself also had various health concerns: persistent headaches, weight issues, gallbladder removal & suspected thyroid imbalance. This prompted Sheri to educate herself further and led her to the Natural Nutrition Diploma program offered through CSNN. The knowledge gained here, in addition to her Chef skills and a desire to educate others, came full circle. She went on to teach kids and adults workshops & cooking classes with an emphasis on whole foods.
Sheri enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, gardening & exploring nature with her dog. She is most fulfilled when she can support the body, mind & spirit through wholesome, carefully prepared meals.
