Sanitization Routine
COVD-19 Tips
Increase Your Peace of Mind by Ensuring a Regular Sanitization Routine during Pandemics
- Handwashing: there is no more important viral infection prevention method than this simple measure. Proper hand washing takes 20 seconds, or as long as you sing the ABC’s, or twice as long as Happy Birthday song in your head. Every time you come into the house, after you sneeze or cough, ensure you wash your hands.
- Sneeze or cough into your sleeve or better yet, a tissue or handkerchief, to ensure that there is no exposure of anything or anyone around you. If you were sneezing into clothes, change them as soon as possible, as the sleeves will come in contact with your desk and arms of a chair.
- At the end of each day, sanitize your computer area (desk, keyboard, screen, mouse and chair). If we sneeze or cough, even if we do it into our sleeve, the droplets can reach far or come off our clothes. Also sanitize your car’s steering wheel, gear shift and car seats, especially after returning from a grocery store.
- Sanitize door handles, sinks/around sinks and toilet seats twice a day.
- Minimize trips to town. Every time you come from a grocery store, airport, hospital or other public place where you were in contact with other people, remove your outdoor clothing and hang it outside for minimum 1 hour. Try to find a place in the sunshine to ensure the best exposure to UV light. If the sun is not out, put it into the area where there is a good breeze. Put your pants into the washing machine and run through a wash cycle with non-chlorinated bleach.
Note: If you put your clothes into the sunlight, ensure that you do not leave it for too long in bright sunrays and/or turn the garment inside out, to prevent discoloration.
- When you are in public places, ensure you do not touch your face, eyes or mouth. Overall, get a habit of avoiding touching those areas, as these are the most vulnerable are to contracting a disease.
7. Wash your veggies in water with 1-2 tbsps. non-chlorinated bleach before eating
8. Get into a habit of airing out your space every 2 hours.
Advanced Tip: Get a UV light lamp and use it for sanitization of your vehicle, house, office or when you travel. Caution: Ensure you follow instructions by the manufacture and air out the room after for minimum 30 minutes and do not expose neither people nor animals to the light. Be especially careful with mirrors and windows, as they may reflect the UV light. As a result, you may get exposed to it, which is undesirable. Another tip: do not overdo on the UV lamp, as it kills good bacteria also. Once or twice a week is plenty.
